Hebrew Classes with Rabbi Barnett

Beginning on Wednesday evening, November 10, at 7:30 p.m., through a virtual platform, I am planning to hold the first session of my Hebrew class. The class will be continuing on subsequent Wednesday evenings for about three months. If you’ve never learned how to read and decipher Hebrew for the prayer book, or you’re rusty at your previously learned level, come join us! This class assumes absolutely no prior Hebrew knowledge, and in my opinion, is the best teaching methodology for prayer Hebrew ever created. In three months, you will gain the equivalent of three years+ of “standard” Hebrew school teaching which young students usually have to suffer through. This method is extremely simple, but not simplistic, and I have successfully used it to produce dramatic and successful results for over 20 years now! Starting perhaps from ground zero, I feel that I can assure you that it will be extremely meaningful to finally connect with our Hebrew roots on a deep and profound level, starting with learning how to read and pronounce the words in this old and deeply nuanced language of civilizational meaning and significance, containing the literal roots of our heritage. Registration needs to be sent to me to my new synagogue email address, at:

by November 3, for the simple purpose of letting me know how many copies of the curriculum to prepare. Assembling the books will be my labor of love “for the cause.” There is a $25 fee for the class for congregation members, which covers approx. $15 in notebook, copying, and materials costs, and a $10 royalty sent to the creator of the program, Mr. Owen Meldy. Non-members of the synagogue are welcome also and may participate through a $95 check/donation to the congregation. Checks may be sent to the synagogue mailing address, or sent through Venmo, or even presented at our live “Wall of Memories” event scheduled for Nov. 5. (More on that event in the near future.) You will also be able to pick up your books on that day.
