Meitin Alliance for Growth and Learning (MAGAL)

The goal of our school and educational programming is for the next generation to see Judaism as something to be discovered and cherished. Being a Jew is more than a birthright.

Congregation Beth Am has joined with Temple Shir Shalom and Temple Israel to create a community school called the Meitin Alliance for Growth and Learning (MAGAL).  The meaning of MAGAL in Hebrew is a circle, a symbol of oneness.  Congregation Beth Am is an active part of the larger Central Florida Jewish landscape and together with our synagogue partners, we are a stronger community.

MAGAL provides our children with the opportunity to learn about Jewish history, Hebrew, holidays, prayers, Tikkun Olam, Tzedakah, and G’Milut Hasadim.   Understanding our traditions is a key tenet of MAGAL and regardless of age Judaism always has something to teach us. As we learn, we strengthen our Jewish identity, connection to Israel, and love of the Torah.

MAGAL classes:

  • Are uplifting so students see themselves as individual reflections of God’s Image.
  • Provide the skill level to comfortably function in Jewish settings.
  • Teach students to make the world a better place through Jewish values and mitzvot
  • The MAGAL curriculum emphasizes mastery and understanding over memorization. Students come away with ownership of their Jewish identity, which helps prepare them for the responsibility of being part of the greater community.

Hebrew school learning is reinforced and supplemented by regular Kabbalat Shabbat and Saturday morning services.

All Classes are held at Temple Israel, 50 Moss Road in Winter Springs.

School times:

Sundays from 9:00 am – 12:30 pm for all children in grades K – 7.
Wednesdays from 5 pm – 6:30 pm in grades 3 – 7.
